”There are twenty-two excellent actors in the performance. The bests are Gábor Máté as a cynical, but always sober alcoholic in love, Ervin Nagy as the Onegin-like engineer, Cherkun, who wants to ameliorate the world, but is unable to have real feelings, Réka Tenki as the sensitive, startled Anna, Adél Jordán as Lidia with her objective intellect, Ernő Fekete as the disintegrated Monahov, Ági Szirtes as the wise and jovial noblewoman. (…) The performance is characterized by well-analyzed characters as situations, as usual in Ascher’s performances, and a comic aspect with bitter humour, that goes beyond the human and social problems of the play.”
(László Zappe, Népszabadság)
„”The company of the Katona Theatre makes the audience take delight in the wonderful actors playing rich characters full of minor details worth noticing. It is them, the actors and the director, Tamás Ascher, working with micriscopic accuracy, who create what is missing from the play. Thanks to them, the performance created from the play is not didactic or boring at all. Gorkij gives us much less details of the characters. So it is a play that is worth putting on stage only with an extremely company – such as that of the Katona.
