Hemann Broder lives in New York with his second wife Yadviga, an ordinary Polish countrywoman, who had been hiding him during the war and is dreaming of passing giyur. Hermann has also a lover, an ever-depressed Masha living with her mother and awaiting for a divorce with her husband. Here comes into view Hermann’s first wife Tamara, whom Hermann considered killed in the Catastrophe.
The eternal existential question: is there at all a way to live in this world after the Catastrophe, and if so, what is the way to do this?
