14.01.2010 Parting with Ludmila Gorbacheva

On January 13, 2010, had suddenly died Distinguished Artist of Russia Ludmila Gorbacheva.  The actress had served at the Alexandrinsky Theater for more than 50 years.  In the years of her work the actress had palyed more than 60 roles, among which were Nina (“The Years of Wondering” by A. Arbuzov, 1955), Girl (“The Optimistic Tragedy” by V. Vishnevsky, 1959), Irochka (“The Noble Nest” by I. Turgenev, 1959), Natasha (“A Lost Son” by A. Arbuzov, 1962), Ludmila (“Friends and Years” by L. Zorin, 1962), Beloved (“The Wild Captain” by Y. Smuul, 1965), Jane (“Maria Tudor” by V. Hugo, 1965).  Her heroines were marked with charm of youth, sincerity and innocence, but with internal strength and personal integrity.  With the years to pass, experience and mastership were coming, allowing the actress to expand her creative scale.  Ludmila Gorbacheva appeared in a new and unexpected capacity after she had played acute characters along with lyrical and dramatic roles.  In those years, the list of her characters included Ms. Forthyte (“Death of a Salesman” by A. Miller, 1960), Niece (“A Good Man from Sichuan” by B. Brecht, 1962), Ottillia (“Before the Sunset” by H. Hauptmann, 1963), Iraida (“The Cause You Serve To” by Y. German, 1968), Margarita (“Much Ado of Nothing” by W. Shakespeare, 1968) and many other.  In the recent years, Ludmila Gorbacheva did not show up on the stage due to health problems.

Parting with the actress will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12:30 at the Crematorium.  For those willing to say the last goodbye to the actress a bus will be taking off from the Alexandrinsky Theater at 11:15 AM.
