VERA VELYAMINOVA’S ARTISTIC ANNIVERSARY
On September 1, an Honoured Artist of Russia Vera Velyaminova celebrates an artistic anniversary – 65 years at the stage of Alexandrinsky Theatre.
She joined Theatre’s company in 1952 an has played over eighty roles since then. Among most notable: Masha in ‘The Living Corpse’ by L. Tolstoy (1954), Maria Tudor in Victor Hugo’s drama of the same name (1964), Eurydice in ‘Antigone’ by Sophocles (1968), Tartagliona in ‘The Green Bird’ by Carlo Gozzi (1976), Rachmaninoff in Yuri Nagibin’s 1989 ‘The Bells’, Lady Jedburgh in ‘Lady Windermere's Fan’ by Oscar Wilde (1998) and many others.
