Jean Bellorini is a French director and an Artistic Director of the Centre Dramatique National and Le Theatre Gerard Philipe de Saint-Denis. Among his productions are ‘The Karamazovs’ by F. Dostoevsky’s novel for Avignon Festival and F. Cavalli’s opera ‘Erismena’ for the festival in Aix-en-Provence. For his first production in Russia Bellorini chose a play ‘Krum’ by Hanoch Levin, a comedy ‘with two weddings and two funerals’ about a man in his forties who returns to his native country and his mother after years of wanderings — like a prodigal son. He is back to his little town, his friends and ex-girlfriend. His life is an infinite slumber. Krum puts his hope into ‘a moment to come’, a moment he finally becomes ready to start a life at full strength…

Collaboration with prospective Russian and European directors, designers and dramatists is a current policy of Alexandrinsky Theatre, emphasized by its Artistic Director Valery Fokin. Invitation of Jean Bellorini is another step towards realization of this policy.

A premiere of ‘Krum’ is a joint international project of the Alexandrinsky Theatre and «L’Art des Nations» Association, France, leaded by a prominent French theatre figure Patrick Sommier.

«L’Art des Nations» Fund was founded by Patrick Sommier in 2015 to manage intercultural exchange between France, China and Russia. Patrick Sommier’s career developed in coordination committee of The World Theatre Festival at Nancy, at Le Theatre Gerard Philipe de Saint-Denis, in chief management of Bobigny MC93 theatre centre etc. Most of his years in profession Sommier devoted to strengthening of artistic ties between French theatre and theatre companies abroad. Patrick Sommier inspired and was among organizers of the first Russian theatre seasons in Paris in 1994. Anatoly Vasiliev’s performances, almost all MDT-Theatre of Europe’s productions, as well as those of The Vakhtangov Theater and MHAT studio-school toured at Bobigny MC93 theatre.
