XII INTERNATIONAL ALEXANDRINSKY FESTIVAL BEGINS
On September 14, Nikolai Roshchin’s premiere ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ kicks off XII International Alexandrinsky Festival on theatre’s Main Stage. Today, on September 12, at 7:30 p.m. (New Stage Media Centre) a lecture by Dmitry Bykov ‘Cyrano and Chatsky: two Russian dramas’ launches a series of educative co-programme events to the premiere. On September 13, at 7:30 p.m. a lecture by Evgenia Tropp ‘The lot of the play ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ by Rostand in Russia’ follows. On September 16, at 4:00 p.m. join us for a lecture by Alyona Karas ‘Old-time masks in the drama of Nikolai Roshchin’.
This year’s Festival is dedicated to the Fifth Anniversary of the Alexandrinsky Theatre’s New Stage, with most of events happening at the latter’s venues. Festival’s programme is aimed at introducing theatre goers to the variety of contemporary theatre’s formats, including: a walk around the building with VR headset on your head; autoteatro in the Theatre’s cafe; an interactive performance/monopoly game; performative video installation; an opera for violin and a scientist, and other selected examples of contemporary performative art.
