Sergei Kempo's novel "Meyer", Konstantin Stanislavsky's book "My Life in Art" 
Alexey Tolstoy's fairy tale "The Golden Key, or The Adventures of Pinocchio"
Alexander Blok's play "Balaganchik", Vladimir Mayakovsky's poem "Cloud in Pants"
Sergey Yesenin's poems "Ditties (about poets)" and Daniil Kharms's "Strange Birds on this page " 
of Mikhail Bulgakov's "The Capital in the Dark" feuilleton 
and also: 
Resolution of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) on the closure of the Vs. Meyerhold Theater (Gostima) 
The performance includes fragments:
from the romances "Black Eyes" (Sergey Gerdel, Evgeny Grebenka) 
and "Dear Long" (Boris Fomin, Konstantin Podrevsky) 
from the song "Tired Sun" (Jerzy Petersbursky, Joseph Alvek) 
and also from ragtime: 
Blue Ribbon (Mae Aufderheide) and Maple Leaf (Scott Joplin)


The authors of the performance refer to the biography and legend of Vsevolod Meyerhold. The literary basis is documentary evidence, memoirs and fiction. Among the actors next to Meyerhold - Stanislavsky, Nemirovich-Danchenko, Chekhov, Mayakovsky, Yesenin, Chaliapin, Bulgakov and other equally famous contemporaries. The life of the great stage reformer from birth to tragic death, his theatrical quest - all these are the subjects of "Meyerhold's Cabaret. Meyerhold. The story of changing times - from the Silver Age to the Revolution and the formation of Soviet power, fateful turns of fate and even the struggle of heroes with terrible villains is told with the use of masks, puppets and eccentric numbers. This is a documentary tale in the free and daring genre of cabaret - this is how the creators themselves define the genre of their performance. 

The Alexandrinsky Theater thanks the A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theater Museum for providing documentary videos of biomechanics exercises: "Pushing a kneeling figure with a foot into the shoulder", "Archery", "Dagger Strike", "Playing with a Stone"
