The St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theater named after Leonid Yakobson, led by the Honored Artist of Russia Andrian Fadeev, will present the premiere of The Queen of Spades ballet based on the story of A.S. Pushkin to the music of P.I. Tchaikovsky.
The famous dancer, ex-premier of the Royal Ballet of London and choreographer Inaki Urlezaga (Argentina), world-famous production designer Ezio Frigerio (Italy), and costume designer won the Academy Award Franco Scuarchapino (Italy).
The performance is rehearsed by: Honored Artist of Russia, Laureate of the Government Youth Prize Alla Bocharova, Diploma-winner at the International Competition Sofia Matyushenskaya, Elena Chernova (Lizaveta); Laureate of international competitions, Laureate of the Government Youth Prize Andrey Sorokin, Kirill Vychujanin, Diploma winner of international competitions Stepan Demin (Hermann); Svetlana Golovkina, Angelina Grigorieva (Countess); Elena Chernova, Anna Skvortsova, Irina Silantieva (Polina); Konstantin Kilinchuk, Egor Burba, Laureate of the highest theater prize of St. Petersburg "Golden Sofit" Andrei Gudyma (Tomsky).
The new production, based on the novel “The Queen of Spades”, will be a dedication to the great Russian poet in the year of his 220th anniversary and will be included in the program of the International Theater Olympiad - 2019.
