
Attila Vidnyansky graduated from the stage management course of the Karpenko-Karoy Theatre Institute, Kiev. Together with a group of graduates of the Hungarian course of the Kiev Theatre Institute, he had established in 1993 a Hungarian Theatre named after Gyula Illyés in West Ukraine, Transcarpathian City of Beregov, and became its Artistic Director. In 2004, he was appointed the Art Director of the Hungarian Opera in Budapest; in 2006, he became Artistic Director of the Mihaly Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen where he had seriously reformed its repertoire and organized a festival targeted at the development of modern Hungarian drama. He has been Artistic Director of the Hungarian National Theatre (Nemzeti Szinhaz) since July 2013. St. Petersburg public knows Attila Vidnyansky thanks to the St. Petersburg International Alexandrinsky Theatre Festival: in 2014, the Hungarian National Theatre presented its performances

At the Tenth International Alexandrinsky Festival, the premiere of Attila Vidnyansky’s performance after F. Dostoyevsky’s novel Crime and Punishment will be presented (September 10, 11 and 25, 2016, 19.00; Major Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre).
