Artistic Director of the Habimah National Theatre since 2004, he was the President of UTE (Union des Theatres de L'Europe, the Union of European Theatres) since November 2012. He was the Khan Artistic Director (1972-1982) and Director of the Chamber Tel-Aviv Theatre (1984 - 1992). In the first place, Ilan Ronen’s influence on the Israel Theatre has revealed itself in productions of modern plays within the frame of the “Young Habima” Project. His interest in and dedication to working with young actors inspired the director to establish the Habima Young Company: he had been working with this group from 1996 till 2004. Many of Ilan Ronen’s performances of that period were honored with professional awards. His international productions included Moliere’s The Bourgeois Gentleman at the Maly Theatre (Moscow, 1990).
At the X International Alexandrinsky Festival, Ilan Ronen’s performance after Jean-Baptiste Moliére’s play The Miser will be presented (September 20 and 21, 19.00; Major Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre).
