Finnish actor, director, playwright.
Born in 1969. Graduated from the Theater Academy in Helsinki in 1995. As an actor he has worked extensively on television, film and radio, and has worked with many theaters in Finland, including leading roles on the stage of the National Theater. In 2005 he staged his first production of Corneille's play Illusions, adapted by Tony Kushner. His directorial debut was hailed as a success by audiences and critics.
Reinikainen has based most of his productions on works by Finnish authors, and Janne Reinikainen is currently working on a production of Finnish classics on the Main Stage of the National Theater. Among his best known works are The Fires, based on a play by the contemporary Lebanese-French-Canadian playwright and director Wajdi Mouawad, as well as plays based on Russian classics such as Gogol's The Inspector and Dostoevsky's The Idiot.
As a playwright Janne Reinikainen writes for Finnish television and radio. At the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival, his short film Reunion, based on his own script, was specially recognized by the International Jury.
The Ninth Alexandrinsky Festival Finnish National Theater presented Janne Reinikainen's play "The lower depth" based on Maxim Gorky's play of the same name (October 7 and 8, 2015 at the Akimov Theatre of Comedy).
