The Lithuanian National Drama Theatre (LIETUVOS NACIONALINIS DRAMOS TEATRAS) traces its history back to October 6, 1940. On that day the Vilnius State Theater premiered the play "Hope" based on Hermann Geiermans' play "The Doom of the 'Hope'". The boat - the visual embodiment of the leitmotif of the drama from the life of Dutch fishermen - became a symbol of the theater itself. The theater has changed its name several times, and received its modern name in 1998. Today it is the most important reference point in the cultural life of Lithuania, it is active internationally, inviting leading Lithuanian and foreign directors, artists and composers to cooperate with it.
The XI International Alexandrinsky Festival presented the performance of the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre "Heroes' Square" directed by Kristian Lupa (September 1,2, 2017. Main stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre).
