Setor de Areas Isoladas is a Brazilian theater company founded in 2008 by Ada Luana, Camila Meskell, Diego Brezani, Rodrigo Fischer and Taís Felippe, graduates of the Performing Arts Department of the University of Brazil, begins its artistic journey with the trilogy "Etudes on Violence", consisting of the performances "Vialenta" (2008), "Whatever happens, I'll eat an egg" (2012), directed by Diegu Brezani, and "Risco/Mocking Therapy" (2009), directed by Diegu Brezani and Rodrigo Fischer. Working on this project, the group strengthens itself in its authorial style, focusing on the work of the actors and the development of an authorial dramaturgy based on the process of creating a stage text.
Between 2009 and 2012, the group received grants for the realization of its projects from the Cultural Support Fund of the Federal District Government. During the same period, the group participated with the trilogy in the program of renowned theater festivals such as the Festival of Brazilian Theater and Riosenacontemporanea in Rio de Janeiro, the January of Great Plays in Recife, the Contemporary Stage and the SESC Prize at the Teatro Candango in Brazil.
Since 2017, after the release of two new productions "To Moscow! Palimpsest" (2017), directed by Ada Luana, and "The Completion of Love" (2018), directed by Diego Brezani, the group has been gaining national exposure, performing in major theater centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Porto Alegre. Both productions have been included in the program of important national festivals such as the Festival of Brazilian Theater in 2017 (Belo Horizonte), 2019 (Recife) and 2022 (Salvador), as well as the International Festival of Contemporary Stage in Brazil in 2017 and 2018.
In 2020, the group performed abroad for the first time with the performance "To Moscow! Palimpsest" as part of the On Women's Festival in New York City. In 2023, the group participated in two of Russia's largest theater festivals: the Chekhov International Theater Festival in Moscow and Yekaterinburg and the International Pacific Theater Festival in Vladivostok. The group is currently working on a new production that will premiere in 2024. Continuing the project of the Chekhov trilogy, the group is working on the play The Seagull: this process began with a creative internship at the Teatro Sergio Cardoso in São Paulo and is currently continuing with a second internship at the Renato Russo Cultural Space in Brazil.
The XV Alexandrinsky International Festival will feature a performance by the Setor De Areas Isoladas theater company "Jupiter and the Seagull" staged by Ada Luana (September 20 and 21, 2024. The main stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater).
