Stepan Pekteev has staged productions in theatres in Moscow, St Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Kirov, the Perm region and Tallinn. The director's digital performance "Hamlet. Machine. Cement" (Mari National Drama Theatre named after M. Shketan) was nominated for the Golden Mask Award and took the Grand Prix at the Yoshkar-Ola Theatre-2023 festival.

"I am for modern theatre, which can be completely different. It's already a matter of choice and a question of the director's internal culture. Lately I prefer to work not with ready-made dramaturgical material, but to create my own author's script, immersing myself in the study of documentary, historical and other materials".
