The world famous director, pedagogue, philosopher and theoretician of theatre whose works have produced a noticeable influence on the world stage. He is the founder and director of the Suzuki Company of Toga (SCOT), organizer of Japan’s first international theatre festival (Toga Festival), and creator of the Suzuki Method of Actor Training.
Among Suzuki’s director’s jobs in Japan there are: Dionysus, King Lear, Cyrano de Bergerac, Madame de Sade, and many others. His international projects include: The Tale of Lear co-produced by four American Regional Theatres; King Lear at the Chekhov MKhT (2004); Oedipus Rex co-produced by Cultural Olympiad and Düsseldorf Schauspiel Haus; Electra co-produced by Ansan Arts Center / Arko Arts Theatre of Korea and the Taganka Theatre (2007).
At the Tenth International Alexandrinsky Theatre Festival, the Suzuki Theatre will present a performance based on the motifs of The Trojan Women by Euripides directed by Tadashi Suzuki (October 1 and 2, 7 p.m., the Major Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre).
