‘MAYAKOVSKY. THE BATHHOUSE’ PREMIERE
On December 13, 14 and 15 Nikolai Roshchin’s ‘Mayakovsky. The Bathhouse’ premieres at the Alexandrinsky Theatre’s Main Stage.
The production of a play by Vladimir Mayakovsky ‘The Bathhouse’ is a long-time creative intention of the Alexandrinsky Theatre’s Principal Director. This is going to be Nikolai Roshchin’s second rendition of this play after January 2017 production for the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. Although bearing new spacial and designing solutions, suitable for the Main Stage, the production, however, preserves original concepts of Meyerhold’s theatre – uniform costumes, atmosphere of a three-ring circus and tragic carnival – all rethought in a contemporary-theatre expression.
The cast stars: Stepan Balakshin; People's Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Volkov; Honoured Artists of the Russian Federation Elena Zimina, Sergei Kuznetsov, Elena Nemzer; Sergei Mardar, Dmitry Belov, Dmitry Girev, Valery Stepanov, Andrei Matyukov, Andrei Kalinin, Nikita Barsukov, People's Artist of Ukraine Yevgeny Kapitonov et al.
Performances start at 7:00 p.m.
