‘NANA’ BY ANDRIY ZHOLDAK PREMIERES
On October 8 and 9, 2020, Andriy Zholdak’s new production ‘Nana’, loosely based on the novel by Emile Zola of the same name, premieres at the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. This is not the first Andriy Zholdak’s production for the Theatre, but his first attempt at the New Stage.
One can hardly expect this staging to be a verbatim tracking of Zola’s novel storyline with Parisian courtesan Nana as a central character. For Zholdak, the plot is just a starting point of the journey to the dimension of theatrical visions, fantasies, inducements, where one can get to the very core of the human psyche.
The production features Anna Blinova, Elena Vozhakina, Honoured Artist of Russia Semyon Sytnik, Ivan Efremov, Aleksander Mitskevich, Viktor Shuralev, Igor Mosyuk, Polina Teplyakova, Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Kuznetsov, Anna Seledets, Vasilisa Alekseeva, Andrei Matyukov, Elizaveta Kobzar, Filipp Bayandin, Stepan Balakshin and others.
