Born in 1960
Borovsky graduated from the Staging faculty of the Moscow Arts Theater School Studio in 1983 (I. Malygina’s class). Since 1986, he is the Chief Artist of Oleg Tabakov Theater. He decorated the following performances: “Bolero,” “The Long Christmas Dinner,” “Sailors’ Stillness,” “An Hour of Triumph by Local Time,” “An Ordinary Story,” “Dangerous Connections,” “From Thursday to Thursday,” “An Offspring,” “One’s Deadly Trick,” “Love as Militarism,” and “Father.” Today, at the Oleg Tabakov Theater decorated by Borovsky performances “Biloxy Blues,” “Passions on Bumbarash,” “Sublimation of Love,” “On the Bottom,” “The Art,” “Letters of Love,” “Every Day Is Not Sunday,” and “The Little Soldiers” are still on. He decorated more than 70 performances in many Moscow theaters: in Sovremennik (“The Death and a Girl” and “The Overcoat”), in the Mayakovsky Theater, the Theater of Satire and the Chekhov Moscow Arts Theater (“? 13,” “The White Guard,” “Copenhagen,” “The Moon Monster,” “Retro,” “The one, Who’s Slapped in the Face,” “Yu”); in the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya (“Five Evenings”), in the Maly Theater (“Woe from Wit,” “Truth is Good, but Happiness is Better!”); in the Satirikon Theater, K. Stanislavsky Theater, etc. Borovsky worked with Adolf Shapiro, Vladimir Mashkov, Sergey Zhenovach, and many others. Remaining the Artist General of Oleg Tabakov Theater, he became the Artist General of the Meyerhold Center in 2001. He cooperated with Valery Fokin since the 1990s. He decorated his performances “More of Van Gogh…” (1998), “The Three Sisters” (Finnish National Theater, 1999), “Old World Love” (A. Voropayev’s Theatric Agency, 1999), “An Aerial City” (2000), “Arto and His Double” (2002), “The Overcoat” (The Sovremennik Theater, 2004 – “Golden Masque” in “the Best Artist’s Work” nomination). At the Alexandrinsky Theater Borovsky decorated “The Inspector General” (V. Fokin production, 2002, the State Award of Russia; “The Double” by F. Dostoyevsky (V. Fokin production, 2005), “The Living Corpse” by L. Tolstoy (V. Fokin production, 2006). "The Marriage" by N.V.Gogol (V.Fokin production, 2008).
He worked in television and cinema, made several programs at the Circus in Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow (with Valentin Gneushev). Borovsky participated in International Theatric Exhibitions; he is laureate of the “Christall Turandot” award (for the scenography of the “One’s Deadly Trick,” 1995). He decorated a number of performances in the U.S., Finland, Denmark, and Austria.
