XI INTERNATIONAL ALEXANDRINSKY THEATRE FESTIVAL TO BEGIN ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2017
On September 1, 2017 XI International Alexandrinsky Theatre Festival begins with Lithuanian National Drama Theatre’s staging ‘Heroes’ Square’. The Festival schedule gathers productions from Lithuania, Russia, Germany and Egypt and, beside all, the residence of ‘Praktika’ theatre at the New Stage. This year’s programme includes a series of co-events – meetings with theatre directors, dialogues between theatre professionals etc. Mikhail Piotrovsky, Ivan Chechot, Mikhail Trofimenkov, Krystian Lupa, Ahmed El Attar are among speakers.
‘Heroes’ Square’ will be shown on the Alexandrinsky Theatre’s Main Stage on September 1 and 2. The staging won Lithuania’s highest theatrical award ‘Golden Cross of the Stage’ in 2016 , naming Krystian Lupa as ‘Best Director’, Lukasz Twarkowski as ‘Best Visual Designer’, Valentinas Masalskis as ‘Best Actor’ (the role of Schuster) and Egle Gabrenaite as ‘Best Actress’ for the role of Frau Zittel. Besides, French Theatre Critics Association awarded ‘Heroes’ Square’ as ‘The best International performance in France’ in the same year.
