"Burenushka" is a play based on the epochal novel-pentalogy of the same name by Tansulpan Garipova, a contemporary classic of Bashkir literature.

The play is based on three parts of the novel. The events take place during the twentieth century in one village, Tiryakly. In the centre of attention is the story of the Muratov family, unfolding in the times of revolution, collectivisation, and later - the Second World War.

Dingezkhan and Barsynbika, the Bashkir bais who have to hide in Kara Tiryakly under alien names, have a difficult fate: once Dingezkhan, among those who disagreed with the changes taking place in the country, commits a crime, for which an imminent curse hangs over his family, capable of destroying their clan.

"Can an ordinary man resist his destiny?" - with this question Barsynbika fights for the fates of her children, Gulbana and Ihsanbay.
